Samsung is the worldâs leading soundbar brand, and the HW-Q990H is its flagship model for 2026. It was announced earlier this year at CES and is priced at $1,999.99 in the US. Pricing may vary depending on the region and available offers.
Here is everything you need to know about the HW-Q990H soundbar.
Audio
The HW-Q990H features an 11.1.4-channel speaker setup with 23 drivers, including tweeters and woofers. It supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Eclipsa Audio for spatial sound. Other supported audio formats include Dolby 5.1, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby TrueHD.

Samsung HW-Q990H Soundbar
The soundbar can be connected to a Samsung TV using an HDMI cable, optical cable, or wirelessly via Wi-Fi with Q-Symphony.
Active Voice Amplifier Pro enhances dialogue clarity, while Adaptive Sound adjusts volume, clarity, and effects in real time based on the content and ambient noise. Game Pro mode enhances audio during gaming sessions. Sound Elevation improves the positioning of dialogue so it appears to come from on-screen action rather than the soundbar itself.
Auto Volume maintains consistent volume levels by reducing sudden spikes or drops, while SpaceFit Sound Pro tunes the audio according to the room's dimensions and the soundbar's placement in the room.
There is also a Night Mode option that allows audio to play only through the rear speakers to minimize disturbance. For social settings, the Group Play feature lets you play the same audio through both the soundbar and rear speakers.
Design

The HW-Q990H features a clean, angular design. The main soundbar includes front-firing, side-firing, and top-firing drivers, along with a monochrome dot-matrix display.
The two included rear speakers connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi and also feature front-firing, side-firing, and top-firing drivers. They can be placed on a table or mounted on stands.
The bundled wireless subwoofer, despite featuring two 8-inch drivers, is compact and easy to place in most rooms. The soundbar, subwoofer, and rear speakers each require a separate power connection.
Connectivity
The soundbar includes two HDMI 2.1 input ports with HDMI CEC support and one HDMI 2.1 output port with eARC, supporting up to 4K 120Hz HDR10+ passthrough. It also features an optical audio input.

Using Q-Symphony, the soundbar can connect wirelessly to compatible Samsung TVs. Audio can be played either through the soundbar alone or in combination with the TVâs speakers. Up to five additional compatible Samsung audio devices can also be connected wirelessly.
Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.3. The soundbar supports music streaming through Roon, Spotify Connect, and Tidal Connect. It also supports AirPlay 2 and Google Cast.
The HW-Q990H can be set up and managed using the SmartThings app and can be controlled via Alexa and Google Home.
